Fruit facial is one of the simplest ways to achieve glowing skin. You just need to know the basic steps of fruit facial at home. But how and why do they work so well? Fruits are natural antioxidants. They contain acids called alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs). These have all sorts of beneficial effects on the skin. Direct application of fresh fruits on the face is the best way to get all the benefits that fruit has to offer. However, before any of that happens, there are a few steps that need to be performed in order to prepare the skin for the treatment.
Basic Steps of Fruit Facial at Home
First of all, like with any other facial, cleanse your skin. In a salon, professionals perform with professional cleansing cream or regular baby oil. But it’s also incredibly easy to make your own cleanser at home with just some fresh milk. This can be used on its own or you can add a few drops of lime juice for enhanced effect. To apply it, take a regular cotton pad and gently wipe your face with it. When finished, rinse with tepid water. The calming fresh milk and the acidity of the lime make for a perfect gentle cleanser suitable for any skin type.
Before applying any kind of mask, first, need to exfoliate the skin to remove any dead skin. Doing this the mask can go on smoothly. For this step, you can use a pre-made fruit scrub. Or make your own, easy, homemade scrub by first creating a paste from half a banana and 3-5 strawberries (depending on their size). You will then need to mix this paste with 2 teaspoons of sugar or sea salt, and that’s it! All that’s left to do is apply the scrub on the skin in circular motions with a light hand for 2-3 minutes.
In case you don’t have all the ingredients, you might think about a replacement. An easy replacement for this scrub can be mixing the pulp from 4-5 slices of orange with 2 tablespoons of cornmeal.
Step 3: Massaging
Once you have rinsed the scrub with lukewarm water, the next step is massaging your face. For this, you will need a mild and soothing ingredient that can easily massage into the skin. The ingredient is usually honey. You can use honey alone, or mix with other squashed fruits like papaya or bananas. Thanks to its unique properties, honey is also used to lighten the skin tone.
The best practice with this step is with a facial steamer. If you own one or if you are doing this treatment in a salon. If you don’t have it, simply lean over a bowl of hot chamomile tea and cover your head with a towel. Stay like this for 10-15 minutes while you wait for your pores to open up. Once it is done, you are ready to apply the fruit mask.
Step5: Fruit mask
Blend 2 slices of papaya and 1-2 slices of orange and mix it with a tablespoon of honey. Apply the mask to your face and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Afterward, rinse with tepid water and apply a ready-made moisturizing cream.
Alternatively, you can use any other kind of fruit, or a combination of fruits, mixed with honey, lemon juice, yogurt, milk or green tea to create your one of a kind fruit mask.
The variety of choice can sometimes be overwhelming. But when it comes to fruit facials, you cannot go wrong with whatever you choose. All the ingredients are 100% natural and will do wonders for your skin. The only thing to keep in mind after this treatment is that all of these fruits contain some kind of acid. The acids expose the skin to harmful UV rays. This is why it’s important to take especially good care of your skin right after the treatment to thoroughly moisturize it. Apply sunscreen whenever you know you will be out in the sun. Thus, you can get a glowing skin performing fruit facial at home.
