While younger skin can get away with almost anything, the more mature, aging skin demands much more care and pampering in order to look fresh and vibrant.

The antioxidant facial treatment is the one usually recommended for such skin. Antioxidants such as vitamin A, C, and E, beta-carotene, co-enzyme Q10, etc. are compounds in our bodies that give the skin strength and elasticity, thus making it feel and look younger.

Antioxidant Facial Treatment

Antioxidants can be ingested through food, but they can also be applied directly to the skin. In the second case, the topmost layer of the skin absorbs the vitamins which allow them to start working their magic.

But in order to absorb all those nutrients properly, the skin first needs to be thoroughly prepped and cleaned which is best done by a professional in a beauty parlor.

Step 1: Cleansing

The first step is always cleansing. In order for any other product to be applied, the skin first needs a thorough cleaning to get rid of any impurities or dirt.

For this step rose oil is often used or any other hydrating cleanser. Massage the skin or the face and neck for 2 minutes then wipe off with a steamed towel.

Step 2: Exfoliating

Exfoliation is another important part of the process which removes the dead upper layer of the skin revealing the soft, fresh baby skin underneath.

Use gentle circular motions to apply the scrub. During a salon treatment, a sonic cleansing brush may be used to further spread the scrub and deep-exfoliate the skin.

Step 3: Cleaning

After the scrub has been removed with a warmed compress, clean it gently with rose water to soothe the skin and remove any residue from the scrub.

Step 4: Hydrating

Apply a skin softening cream and a hydrating Eco mask on top of it. You can apply another layer of the cream on top of the mask and leave it for 10 minutes.

A professional cosmetician may use an LED ultrasound skin rejuvenation device to enhance the effects of the hydrating mask and cream. This will help stimulate blood circulation and the ultrasound waves will penetrate the skin allowing the product to sink deeper into the skin.

Step 5: Massage

Next, apply a soothing massage cream and perform a full face and neck massage for 10-15 minutes. A professional may choose to add an additional step by massaging your face with cold beauty globes. This will help relax the muscles and increase oxygen flow to the skin. Do not rinse.

Step 6: Mask

Finally, apply the antioxidant mask and massage for 5-10 minutes to make sure it has been properly absorbed. Let the skin breathe for several minutes before applying a moisturizer or CC cream with SPF.

This is a deeply nourishing treatment mainly recommended for more mature skin as it helps the skin produce collagen, making it stronger and more elastic.

It also evens out the skin tone, helps with correcting hyper-pigmentation and repairs and prevents damage from the sun.

As you may have already noticed, however, this treatment involves quite a few steps and lasts for a whole hour or longer, so you should plan your time well before arranging a session with your cosmetician.
